The Gala apple is one of the most beloved apples on the planet — the one people reach for out of habit, put in their kids' lunchboxes without thinking, and grab from the produce aisle when they don't want to make a decision. Sweet, mild, crisp, and reliable. And when you get them fresh-picked from an orchard? They're a genuine delight.

A Brief History of the Gala Apple
The Gala was developed in New Zealand in the 1930s by fruit breeder J.H. Kidd — a cross of Kidd's Orange Red and Golden Delicious. Kidd named it "Gala" because he wanted a name that evoked a special occasion. The apple didn't spread beyond New Zealand until the 1970s, but once it hit U.S. markets it exploded in popularity. Today Gala is one of the top three apples sold in America.

Why Fresh-Picked Gala Is Different
Grocery-store Gala apples are often 4–6 months out of controlled-atmosphere storage. They soften, lose their signature snap, and take on a slightly muted flavor. Fresh-picked from our orchard, Gala delivers a crisp bite, bright honey-sweet flavor, and a genuine sense of just-off-the-tree freshness. If your kids like Gala from the store, they'll go through fresh-picked ones twice as fast.
