This is the healthy dip that disappears in ten minutes flat — at parties, in lunchboxes, on the after-school snack tray. Three pantry ingredients whisk together into a creamy, protein-packed dip that tastes like a peanut butter cup, sweetened only with real farm-fresh honey. Slice up a fresh Honeycrisp apple and you've got a snack you'll actually feel good serving to kids.
The apple carries the whole dish, so choose well. Honeycrisp is our top pick for its snap and balanced sweetness. CandyCrisp is another excellent option if you like it sweeter, and Cortland resists browning best for a lunchbox that sits until noon. Order fresh from our orchard by clicking here.
Ingredients (makes about 1 1/2 cups)
- 2 parts natural peanut butter (about 1/2 cup)
- 2 parts plain Greek yogurt, full-fat preferred (about 1/2 cup)
- 1 part Farm Fresh Honey (about 1/4 cup), to taste
- Sliced Honeycrisp apples for dipping
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract; a pinch of cinnamon; a pinch of flaky salt
Directions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, Greek yogurt, and honey until completely smooth.
- Add vanilla, cinnamon, or a pinch of flaky salt if using.
- Taste and add a little more honey if you like it sweeter.
- Serve right away with sliced apples, or transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate.
- Store leftovers in the fridge up to 4 days — give it a stir before serving.
Tips & Variations
- Sub the nut butter. Almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter (for nut-free classrooms) all work beautifully.
- Add crunch. Fold in a spoonful of granola, chopped roasted peanuts, or mini chocolate chips just before serving.
- Prevent browning. Toss apple slices in a splash of lemon or lime juice.
- Party presentation. Drizzle a little extra honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top for a bakery-case look.
- Lunchbox portion. Divide dip into small screw-top containers and pack apple slices in the rubber-band lunchbox trick — see the how-to here.
More Ways to Use It
- Spread on a slice of whole-grain toast with banana
- Drizzle over oatmeal or yogurt for breakfast
- Dip pretzels, celery sticks, or graham crackers
- Stuff into celery boats for the classic "ants on a log" upgrade
